Rafael has over 25 years of experience in assisting foreign and domestic companies with their ventures, especially in the fields of Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT), International Trade, Free Trade Agreements, and Government Relations.
Rafael started his career in 1995 as an associate in the International Trade Practice and was appointed as a partner in the consulting practice on 2002.
His experience and thorough understanding of trade, coupled with his commitment to excellence have solidified our firm’s reputation in the areas of international trade and government relations have made her a key factor to many of our clients’ successes.
+ Representative Transactions
- Represented several industries in the creation of the Sectorial Promotion Programs (PROSEC) established by the Mexican Ministry of the Economy as a relief to Article 303 of NAFTA.
- Obtained the first Rule 8 (import permit) for the importation of freeze dried fruit under NAFTA.
- Participated in the creation of several Mexican Standard Norms (NOM)
- Participated as an advisor to the largest consumer technology association in America in USMCA negotiations regarding Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT)
- Advisor to UK Trade and Investment on TBT matters under the Mexico-European Union Free Trade Agreement
